COMPLETE PLANT INTEGRATION

Hymmen has decades of experience managing complete production processes, ranging from small lines of 10 to 20m to large-scale plants extending up to 400m. Its process expertise is supported by in-house machine manufacturing and plant-wide control technology. The company’s product range includes roller application machines for glue or adhesive application, surface finishing and edge sealing, as well as glue nozzles. It also offers customised transport and conveying equipment, such as turners, modular belts, roller, belt and chain conveyors. In addition, the portfolio covers singleopening and multi-daylight presses, both heated and unheated, along with portal and robot handling systems. These are complemented by fully automated and interlinked control technology. The combination of process knowledge and component manufacturing has allowed Hymmen to deliver tailored plant solutions for engineered wood producers, many of which operate continuous, 24/7 production lines. “The positive feedback from our customers and the market’s demand for significantly higher automation and efficiency has now prompted us to expand our commitment in this market area,” said Dr René Pankoke, Hymmen’s managing partner.

INDUSTRY TRENDS

At this year’s LIGNA fair in Hannover, discussions centered around surface finishing and edge sealing for shuttering panels, gluing and phenolic resin applications, and the production of veneer wood panels. Handling and automation solutions for complex processes, such as veneer laying, also drew strong interest. Applications extend across gluing, impregnation, coating and pressing — from cross-laminated timber, veneer plywood and glued-laminated timber to blockboard. Specialised uses, including multi-layer panels for vehicle and caravan construction, as well as sandwich and honeycomb panels, continue to demand creativity and innovation. “It is always fascinating to see how a shared vision of a complete new plant, in many technical discussions with the customer, finally turns into several hundred meters of functioning production line,” Pankoke reflected.
