Finally in person again instead of digitally – Technological innovations from Hymmen live at in-house fair

Hymmen, together with a group of committed machine and plant builders from OWL (East Westphalia-Lippe), has decided to launch an alternative event format called "TechTogether - Woodworking Competence", which is intended to bring woodworking technology together with interested customers (see extra press release on this).

From 27 to 29 September, the machine and plant manufacturers will be inviting visitors to their respective in-house trade fairs in parallel, live and in some cases supplemented by online formats. The event will take place parallel to the Ligna Networking Event, which will be held online as a substitute for the live event due to Corona. The focus will be on the exchange of information on technology, innovations, new developments and customer solutions.

The experience of the Corona period has confirmed Hymmen's view that in plant engineering, with its highly complex and individual customer projects, personal exchange with customers cannot be replaced by online events, online trade fairs or webinars. The scattering losses are too high and focused communication is hardly possible. Even though 1:1 online-meetings have been a good alternative for travel restrictions and will remain a very good addition to the business in the future, it is now time to make it possible for customers to experience the new technological developments in person.

That is why Hymmen is involved in the TechTogether initiative of machine builders from OWL and invites its customers to the in-house exhibition in its newly renovated technical center in Rödinghausen from

27-29 September 2021.

Over the three days, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the innovations in the field of digital printing and the other technologies of Hymmen.

  • The SATURN Digital Printing Line for water-based digital printing of decorative paper will be in live production.
  • A JUPITER Digital Printing Line for printing on board material with UV-curable inks will be on standby for interested customers.
  • And in the "Digital Lacquer Embossing corner", digital structure printing, which recently won another innovation award, can be experienced haptically and visually at first hand.
  • But customers can also find out about other technologies that have already been established on the market for some time: In the CCI (Calender Coating Inert) corner, mirror high-gloss and supermatt surfaces will convince visitors of Hymmen's coating finishing technology.
  • Finally, in the press hall, there will be insights into the latest developments in double belt press technology.

Parallel to the guided tours through the machine halls, video demonstrations in the showroom on the topics of Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLE plus) and SATURN Digital Printing Line will provide background information on technical details and a market classification of the new technologies.

Hymmen is pleased to welcome John Rietveldt from i4F as a special guest on Monday, 27.09.2021. To ensure customers' protected access to innovative digital printing technologies, Hymmen and i4F have entered an exclusive patent partnership that markets and develops Hymmen's strong IP portfolio. This partnership gives i4F exclusive licensing rights to all of Hymmen's digital printing patents for flooring production. In a panel discussion John Rietveldt and Dr. René Pankoke, managing partner and CEO of Hymmen, will provide insight into the latest market trends in flooring production, new technical developments and the benefits the patent partnership offers customers.

Customers who cannot join Hymmen live at the in-house exhibition will be offered an online contact to exchange information. In terms of content, it will coincide with Hymmen's contributions to the Ligna Innovations Network. Finally, in addition to the content-related information-sharing, the physical well-being of the guests will of course also be catered for.

For details on the event, please refer to the personal invitations that Hymmen will send out in mid-August.

Hymmen Digital Printing Technologies win another Innovation Award

BIELEFELD, GERMANY - HAMONT, BELGIUM - i4F, a group of companies providing patents and technologies to the flooring industry, recently won the “Best of TISE (The International Surfaces Event)” SURFACES 2021 Innovation Award for its portfolio of Digital Printing technologies.  This recognized Hymmen’s Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLE) Plus technology, solely available via an i4F license, for its advancements in the creation of unbelievably real optics and haptics.  Hymmen has established itself as one of the world's leading providers of industrial digital printing for flooring and already won the Great Innovations Award at the INPRINT fair in 2014 and an Interzum Red Dot Award for its patented DLE technology in 2019.

TISE’s annual "Best of TISE" Awards recognize companies whose product, program, service, business practice and/or booth design are considered "best" in their class. The "Best of TISE" event awards for each show (SURFACES | StonExpo/Marmomac | TileExpo) are determined by a panel of judges chosen by the official publication sponsors.

Due to COVID travel restrictions, Hymmen was unable to exhibit at the 2021 SURFACES fair in Las Vegas. Hymmen´s patent partner, i4F, presented Hymmen’s Digital Printing technologies on its booth where TISE officials presented the award during the show on June 17, 2021 (see Fig. 1).

Focused on the flooring industry, Hymmen has been developing industrial digital printing development for thirteen years and has become the undisputed market leader with more than 45 single-pass digital printing lines, worldwide. As the only provider of high-volume capacity digital printing machines on the market today, Hymmen’s technologies deliver more than 80% of the world’s digitally printed flooring.

Protected Patented Innovation

To ensure that customers have protected access to innovative digital printing technologies, i4F and Hymmen entered into an exclusive patent partnership to promote and develop Hymmen‘s strong digital printing IP portfolio in November 2020. This partnership gives i4F exclusive licensing rights for all Hymmen’s digital printing patents and technologies for flooring production, including Hymmen’s award winning Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLE) Plus technology (see Fig. 2 and 3). World’s most advanced Digital Printing technologies for the flooring industry by Hymmen are only available via i4F license. This partnership ensures broader IP protection against inferior, unprotected copy-cat technologies.

Digital printing innovations are setting the scene for the future of the flooring industry and will play a massive role in the development of new products from the floor upwards.

I4F and Hymmen enter into exclusive patent partnership for advanced digital printing technologies

Hymmen’s patented digital printing and structuring technologies only available via an I4F license

Significant addition to I4F’s digital printing patent cluster

HAMONT, BELGIUM – I4FÒ, a group of companies providing patents and technologies to the flooring industry, today announced that it has entered into a patent partnership with Hymmen GmbH Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, a leading global digital printing systems provider, specialized in flooring.  This new strategic partnership gives I4F exclusive licensing rights for all Hymmen’s digital printing patents and technologies for flooring production, including Hymmen’s award winning Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLE) technology. This represents an important addition to I4F’s comprehensive digital printing portfolio that already includes market leading technologies from Classen, Kronospan and Benchwick.

Hymmen has established itself as one of the world's leading providers of industrial digital printing for flooring and won an Interzum Red Dot Award for its patented DLE technology in 2019. Hymmen is completely dedicated to flooring, and has provided most of the digital printing lines in the global flooring industry. More than 80%  of digitally printed flooring around the world is produced using Hymmen technologies.

In addition to its exclusive licensing rights, I4F will work in close collaboration with Hymmen to promote digital printing opportunities in the flooring industry and will represent Hymmen on future patent protection related issues.  Historically, Hymmen has maintained a strong IP position including, for example, its recent filing of a patent infringement lawsuit against Barberán S.A. at the District Court in Düsseldorf.

Digital printing will play a more crucial role in the future of flooring as it enables unlimited design flexibility and can be applied to a wide range of materials.  This facilitates faster response times to market demands and trends while reducing material waste.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. René Pankoke, CEO and President of Hymmen, says, “I4F is the perfect match for Hymmen as we share the same passion for innovation and continuous development within the global flooring industry.  I4F is recognized as the technology leader in the flooring industry and will support us on developing and further expanding the market for digital printing.”

John Rietveldt, I4F’s CEO, adds, “The ability to produce high quality digitally printed flooring has become strategically important for the future of our industry. I4F believes that Hymmen not only has the most innovative and highest quality technologies, it also maintains a fiercely strong IP position. This latest addition to our patent cluster concept reinforces our promise to licensees to receive the world’s best, most cutting-edge technologies in the industry backed up by a robust patent protection infrastructure.”
